The Ali Factor

"Ali didn't win because of his body. He won because of his mind." Chris McCormick

So, I am traveling down a path that is going to lead me to increasing my overall work load. I guess you could say that my "base" is not strong enough. MACCA, in his book, warns any athlete to be aware of "fear work." Or work that you put in because you are afraid. Work that does not follow a plan, but is only done because you doubt your system. The best thing for me to do is find a system that works for me and the goals that I have. Being a father of a 3 year old, and an owner of a home that needs serious attention I have to be careful about when I train, but with better planning and scheduling I am confident I can accomplish my goals.

Here is how the new system is going to look. I am going to commit to this thing for the next 90 days and see what happens to my overall speed, strength and endurance.

4 times a week I will do CrossFit work / MetCons / Strength (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)

6 times a week I will do "Sport Specific" workouts (Run, Bike, Swim). Each sport will be worked twice a week (everyday but Sunday). Intervals, speed, hill climbs, swim skills all done 3+ hours, minimum, after the CrossFit work.

1-2 times a week one of the "Sport Specific" workouts will be a "volume workout." On Wednesday and Saturday I will spend my time working one of the sports for a longer period of time.

Today:
5x hill repeats (on the hill that runs past Hog's Wallow and dumps out a Porcupine Grill. Each round was a max effort to finish with a recovery as long as it takes to ride back to the light next to Zion's Bank.
