Week Two


Last week went really well. My training is becoming more about effective recovery and less about beating the shit out of myself. Working hard only helps me if I am able to recovery properly. So, I spent some time in ice baths and made that horrible "wincing" face for a 1/2 hour each night as me and the foam roller battled each other. I got 4x CrossFit workout in (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) and 6x sports specific workouts in (M,T,W,Th, F, S). I spent Saturday riding 40 miles in the Huntsman 140 (very slow pace) and then rocked out 12 fast miles at the end of the race to finish up my Saturday "endurance" training." The only workout I missed was the second "swim" specific work on Friday because I was in Dallas for work and the hotel pool was crap, and filled with little kids.

Monday (week two)
heavy lunges
2x 10 lunges @ 135#
2x 8 lunges @ 155#
2x 6 lunges @ 185#
2x 3 lunges @ 225#

1-10-1 step-ups + 30m bear crawl after every round
PM Workout: run 4 miles (first half at 85% max and the second half at 95% max)

Signed up for the Mountain Tropic Tri today on Aug 13th. Olympic Distance. MAFU!

Felt strong under the lunges, and am hoping my legs will be ready to carry me strong for the run. If the second workout can't be done with full effort there is no use in doing it. If it can't be done with full effort I fear it will become "fear" work and not work that will make me better.
