I was going to ride to Emigration Canyon again, but I can't stand riding over to it. Riding through Tanner Park and along Foothill Blvd is not a "safe" ride at 5:30AM. So, I decided to head South today and go as far as I could until 7:00AM at which time I would turn around in hopes of arriving home by 7:30. It was just me and the stars up Big Cottonwood Canyon this morning. By the time I got the the "S" curve the stars lit up the sky. Almost like I hadn't seen them until then. I had two headlight on my bike and two flashers behind me, just in case. I made it to the Dog Lake trailhead at about 6:55 and figured I better turn around.

It got cold about half way up Big Cottonwood. Wearing "triathlon" shoes is not the smartest move in cold weather. They have tons of mesh on them so the air can dry you feet off after the swim. Not an idle situation when the air temperature drops below 40 degrees.
